Don't 'sell' just yet

David Ortiz and Brock Holt came through with a couple huge two-out RBI in Thursday night's win over the Cleveland Indians, and combined with a solid Jon Lester start, the Red Sox might be ready to send their GM and owners a message

That message would be, "We aren't done yet."

Some have already given up on the Red Sox 2014 season. These people have called 2013 a "fluke."

They must not have looked at the Wild Card standings. Because after Thursday's win, Boston is only 4.5 games out of one of the two Wild Card spots.

And you know how I feel. Just get into the tournament.

Red Sox players can control the decision that general manager Ben Cherington makes in the coming month. Does he sell or buy at the trade deadline?

That decision hasn't been made yet. And if the Sox can continue to play like they did on Thursday night at Fenway, then you can't actually be serious about "selling" just yet.

At least, I'm not. And I explained why you can't decide to sell right now, on today's podcast.

Also on today's podcast, I talked some World Cup, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Final, and 2024 Olympics potentially in Boston.

And should the Bruins trade Brad Marchand? I explained why I wouldn't.
